Join the ACR® Medical Student Subcommittee for the medical student-led Journal Club. Medical students will have the opportunity to critically analyze, evaluate and present medical literature pertaining to radiology. Students will also be introduced to trending research topics within radiology and the role of radiology research in a clinical context.

With the guidance of a faculty mentor, student presenters will be asked to select a journal article on a trending topic, create a presentation and lead a discussion to evaluate the article’s hypothesis, study design, methods, results and clinical applications.

During this session, we will discuss using race as a biological variable. Despite it being a social construct, physicians are at risk of failing to accurately assess the health status of patients and advance our understanding of disease in diverse populations.

Author Dr. Damien Medrano gives us examples of race-based medicine and how it impacts the practice of radiology.
